Greetings from Sunny California

This is not my typical post scribed from the comfort and warmth of my living room after the boys have gone to bed. This post is being sent from the west coast. While the boys get to spend some extra time with Daddy, I am in Los Angeles representing Novo Nordisk at the American Pharmacists Association. I arrived around 10 am on Thursday morning and have been fortunate to get many miles logged in and around the area prior to actually starting to work.

I did attempt some R & R at the rooftop heated pool, but the city and sights were calling my name, so off I went. Thursday was spent primarily in Downtown LA close to the hotel, but that was a different story for Friday. Breakfast was consumed on the beach in Santa Monica and as the temps reach 83 degrees by noon, I found myself enjoying a cup of gelato on 3rd Street Promenade after shopping.

Friday morning at the Santa Monica Pier

It was recommended by a local to go to Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. The moment I turned on the street, I knew why. The shops lining the street are all unique and one of a kind featuring home-grown artists, designers, and culinary masterpieces.

I wore sandals down to the beach, but after many miles in two days, the dogs were barking! I was ecstatic when I stumbled upon this gem. I purchased my first pair of Toms last year, but of course at Nordstrom like everyone else in Virginia. Two weeks ago, the first ever Toms store was opened on Abbot Kinney and inside it not only displays all the shoes, but it also has a Fair Trade coffee bar and a back yard filled with Adirondack chairs for all to enjoy.

Needless to say I was excited about my new walking shoes. Above me displays a sign, Carpe Diem.
How fitting in so many ways.

As most of you know, Sunflowers are and have been on my list of top five favorite things of mine since childhood. It must have been meant to be to walk into this trendy inviting restaurant on the corner of Venice & Abbot Kinney to see this beautiful vase of sunflowers. It was meant to be.
As I left Venice, I thought this was a perfect picture as I returned back to Downtown LA to ultimately pay the bills...work. Luckily, my job does not feel like a job and I could have skipped back to the convention center in my new Toms, but time was of the essence and Taxi it was.

There is proof that I am indeed working...red carpet style of course!

Tomorrow night, celeb sighting in Hollywood.
