A Loose Tooth!!
For about two years now since Tripp's schoolmates and friends have been losing their baby teeth, I have heard, "My tooth is loose." I would get excited (because come on, you know me) to put on my new hat as the tooth fairy! Then I would check the pearly whites and get disappointed. He became the boy who called, "tooth."
This morning while I was getting ready for work and the boys were brushing their teeth, Tripp said, "I have a loose tooth." I guess for two years now I have begun to ignore the claim and I just shrugged it off. He said, "See?"
Whoa, it really is a loose tooth. "Does it hurt?" "Is it fun to play with?" "Don't pull it out...let it fall out." The gamut of questions to which he looked at me with his bubble gum toothpaste on the corners of his mouth and said, "Yes. Yes it hurts. Especially when I have to do work. Like my numbers."
My clever, way to smart for his own good, knucklehead of a son, Tripp! Your mommy wrote the book in getting out of her math homework, so good try! But still, we got a loose tooth and we must roll out the red carpet for the arrival of the tooth fairy!!
