Two Different Boys

Two Completely Different Boys

It's amazing to me how two children from the same parents can be so different. From Tripp's early days he was the easiest baby. Slept through the night by week nine (I mean sleeping from 7 pm to 8 am) and got on a regimented schedule fairly easy. However, he always, ALWAYS, was and has been on the go having to move from bouncey seat, to exersaucer, to Johnny Jump Up, to the playmat all within a half an hour. He was also walking by 9 months and 9 days. Tripp has never had an ounce of fat on him. He's always been super long and lean, probably because he can't sit still long enough to finish an entire meal. Tripp has always been a thumb sucker only when he touches his blanket as you can see from the picture above. Touch the blanket=insert thumb. He has never been a cuddler, just way too busy for that mommy!

Then comes Baxter, who is the most layed back, chill kid I have ever been around. However, we struggled a bit getting him on a schedule as easily as Tripp was. He wanted his mommy way too much to sleep through the night. I mean, it was like month 4 before we had to do some serious sleep training before I went back to work. Baxter is just content to sit wherever, do whatever, whenever. He is 7 1/2 months and even though he can crawl, he's just content to go from a sitting position, to a crawling position, back to a sitting position while staying in the same place. You give him a wooden spoon while making dinner and he's just as happy as can be (meanwhile Tripp is running outside, riding his scooter indoors, jumping off the kitchen table, and dumping an entire box of balls all within the 20 minutes it takes to make a quick meal that will be nibbled on as he runs around the house). While Baxter is just as long if not longer than Tripp at this stage, he is also averaging about 3 lbs larger when he was 7 1/2 months. He looks like Humpty Dumpty when his sitting up!! I love it!!! He's already in 12 month clothes while Tripp could probably where 12 month shorts he's so skinny. Baxter has unfortunatley become a pacifier sucker when going down to sleep, but luckily doesn't take it during the day. He looks like Greg more and more everyday, while Tripp is a mini McIlwee.
Even though the two are very different in many ways, they both have those killer blue eyes. I can't wait to see what fine men they grow up to be.

So Baxter is looking like his father more and more each day? It must be because he does not have hair and he is a bit pudgey!
